Count each storage location

Start in bathrooms, then check the kitchen, utility cupboard and any garage storage. Separate toilet paper, facial tissue, napkins and towels. Record partial packs without assuming they contain the original count.

Remove compromised supplies

Check for moisture, pest damage and dirty water exposure. Keep supplies in the original clean wrapping when useful, away from leaks and cleaning chemicals. Do not count compromised paper as usable stock.

Set one shared reminder

Mark the oldest intact pack for first use and put the count in a shared household note. Choose a single shopping reminder based on observed usage and delivery time. Revisit it when the household changes rather than treating the audit as a permanent consumption forecast.

Before you decide

  • Separate paper types in the count.
  • Check open packs rather than assuming original quantity.
  • Use the oldest intact pack first.
